Monolith I, 2023, Black stained wood, 207 x 240 x 570 cm

Temporary installation for the exhibition GIST, Domein Calmeyn, Drogenbos, BE

Hidden behind a graceful curtain of trees, a black monumental form emerges at the water's edge. Monolith 0I exudes the aura of an ancient artifact, steeped in mystery. Like a mystical masterpiece from a distant past, the monolith appears to be carved from the rock, its volume absorbing the soft light. At its peak rests an enigmatic structure, a puzzle waiting to be unraveled.

The connection between earth, water, and air embraces this place, and the monolith enhances its spiritual character. The inaccessible pavilion with its black gateway seems to offer passage to another dimension—into a realm where all earthly elements converge in harmony. The still water nourishes the magic of this location.

In the shadows, we feel the invitation to slow down and uncover the deeper meaning lingering in the air. It is a place where the boundary between reality and imagination blurs, where the soul finds peace.
